- Visiting researcher at University of Udine, Department of Plant Production and Technology (02/1995-06/1995).
- Free researcher and later PhD student at KU Leuven supported by the SOROS FOUNDATION and KU leuven (09/1995-1999)
- Obtained a PhD degree in Applied Biological Sciences at the KU Leuven 22 December 1999.
- Postdoctoral Fellow at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven since 1 March 2000.
