Candidates who are interested to undertake a Ph.D. study at the Laboratory of Tropical Crop Improvement should first contact either Prof. R. Swennen or Prof. D. De Waele and provide the following information:

1. Family name and first name, sex, date and place of birth, current nationality, marital status.
2. Current address.
3. Language skills.
4. Education:
- university studies (qualifications obtained and grade/results);
- title and abstract of thesis (grade/results);
- other formal studies (workshops, etc.).
5. Professional experience:
- research and teaching experience;
- current affiliation;
- publications.
6. Study financing information (how do you intend to finance your studies ?).
7. Do you have a suggestion for a Ph.D. study topic ? (the study topic should be linked or fit into the current/planned activities of our laboratory).
8. What do you intend to do after finishing your Ph.D. ?
9. Name and address of at least one referee.
10. Musa-related or other relevant activities undertaken at your laboratory, institute.

The Laboratory of Tropical Crop Improvement has no funds to finance Ph.D. studies. However, information on grants and scholarship possibilities offered by the Catholic University of Leuven and others can be found on the website http://www.kuleuven.ac.be/research/doctoral/grants.htm.
